FEDERAL WRITING DESK AND CHAIR

Solid Honduras mahogany desk and chair with matching fluting in legs. Desk has cock beading on drawer fronts and along the base and sides of the case to add elegance and formality to an otherwise simple design. The desk legs are tapered to create the illusion of splay, adding a graceful verticality to the piece. Carved fans adorn the kneehole corners. The hardware is solid brass. Chair is adorned with hand cut beading along crest rail, back splats and stiles. An upholstered slip seat provides comfort and coordination with the client's decor. The finish on both desk and chair are amber shellac and wiping varnish.
